Speaking Test Overview
The IELTS Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner. It lasts for 11-14 minutes and is divided into three parts.
Introduction & Interview
4-5 minutes
The examiner will introduce themselves and ask you general questions on familiar topics such as your home, family, work, studies, and interests. This part is designed to help you relax and get used to speaking.
Individual Long Turn
3-4 minutes
You will be given a cue card with a topic. You have one minute to prepare and make notes. You will then need to speak about the topic for 1-2 minutes. The examiner will ask one or two follow-up questions at the end.

4-5 minutes
The examiner will ask further questions related to the topic in Part 2. These questions are more abstract and will require you to discuss issues and ideas in greater depth, giving your opinion and justifying it.
