Describe a traditional cultural festival you participated in

Of all the cultural festivals celebrated throughout the calendar year, the one that resonates most deeply with me is Diwali, commonly known as the Festival of Lights. Rooted in ancient lore, it commemorates the spiritual triumph of light over darkness, wisdom over ignorance, and righteousness over malice.

Preparations commence weeks in advance. Families undertake a meticulous spring cleaning of their homes to welcome auspicious energy. On the day itself, the atmosphere transforms into a dazzling visual spectacle. We adorn our doorsteps with elaborate 'rangoli' patterns crafted from vibrantly dyed rice flour and flower petals. As dusk falls, every windowsill, balcony, and courtyard is illuminated with hundreds of flickering earthen clay lamps, known as diyas, creating an undulating sea of golden light.

Food plays an indispensable role. Kitchens are filled with the rich aroma of ghee and cardamom as we prepare traditional delicacies like kaju katli and savory samosas, which are lovingly distributed to neighbors regardless of religious affiliation. What struck me the most growing up is how Diwali transcends individual households. Walking down the radiant streets, exchanging sweets, and setting off sparklers fosters an unmistakable sense of communal warmth and spiritual renewal that binds our neighborhood together.
